American English (http://americanenglish.state.gov) is our new online resource center for teaching and learning about English language and U.S. culture. The website provides a variety of engaging materials and resources for teachers’ professional development and for use with students in the classrooms. Both teachers and students will find new ways to practice English and learn more about the United States. Resources are divided into three general areas (Teach, Learn, and Culture) and the new search function directs teachers and students of English to high-quality resources and provides ways to share and discuss new ideas.
American English is also host to Trace Effects, the exciting 3-D interactive online video game for learning language and U.S. culture, geared for youth outreach and understanding of U.S. culture and values. In addition, there are four free online mini-games also accessible through the American English website.
